Our Our December Meeting started with Players taking to the stage to entertain us. Our first performer was Colin Ensor who played Please Don’t Talk, Footsteps Of A Fool, Back Home Again, Pigalle, Sailing By and Charmaine. Up next was Ann Parker who started on the Ukulele, strumming and singing When I’m Cleaning Windows and Rocking Around The Christmas Tree.
Ann then switched to her Accordion to play Woodland Fantasia and Yodeling Polka. Bernard Belshaw was up next, playing Blaze Away, Limelight, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, White Christmas, Jingle Bells, Spanish Gypsy Dance, Moonlight Serenade, El Combanchero, Don’t Know Why, You Made Me Love You, I Hear Music, Jealousy, Isle Of Capri, The Harry Lime Theme and Stranger In Paradise. Our next player Rob Phelps had come to visit us from the Lake District, he played Don’t Stop Me Now
by Queen, Santa Baby, Walking In the Air and Feel The Love. Our final player was Sara Daly who finished the stage section with Don’t Stop The Cavalry, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Envicans Waltz. After the stage section of the night the lights came up and we moved in to a general practice night event with performers playing, and socialising, in different parts of the room. The music and chat continued this way for another two hours until we made our way home at 11pm. A
good night was had by all and from word around the room the two section night was a hit, giving time for solo stage performances first, followed by a relaxed social section gives everyone something they prefer from a night at the club, while we only meet once a month we will continue with the same format.

This Tuesday we will be meeting on TUESDAY 18th of January. Doors open at 8pm with a hybrid meeting as detailed above. We will start with any players on the stage who want to play or practice playing to an audience, then we will move on to having the rest of the evening as a Practice Night. This way we can
cater for most peoples preferences in one night, if you prefer to play on stage please arrive sooner rather than later and we will get all stage performances done first.
Because we don’t have a bar at the club any more, please feel free to bring your own Alcoholic Drink or Soft Drink. As usual there will be Tea and Coffee on sale at 20p a Cup.
Please bring yourselves and your accordion if you have one.
One regular member has let me know they won’t be at the club on Tuesday because they tested positive for Covid so they are isolating. I know we have a sensible membership and all would do the same to keep each other safe.
Remember they only open the club for us at 8pm now, previously the club was open from 6.30pm or 7pm when they had a bar, and we could let ourselves in the room any time we liked. Now someone comes down with a key at 8pm to open the building, leaving us as the only ones there until they return at 11pm. Please check they have had time
to turn the alarm off if you are first through the door heading for the main room.
See you at 8pm on Tuesday 18th.
David.

Online Chat/Playing this Wednesday
|
We will be having an online meeting on the first Wednesday in February to supplement the loss of the first Wednesday face to face meeting. The next online meeting will be 2nd of February starting at 8pm, we have an online catch up with local members and others from far and wide. This is held on Zoom.
The night starts at 8pm and will be a chance to chat about accordions, find out what others have been up to, or even play a tune for us. Please share the link below with any accordion folk who might be interested in joining us. The service we are paying for allows for up to 100 people to join in so we don’t have a limit on how
many can join in. If you want to chat about accordion stuff, listen to others play the accordion, or give us a tune then please join us.
