Colette & Gennaro Fiondella welcomed everyone to their long awaited festival on Friday 4th February 2022. The Queens Hotel venue is superbly located on Eastbourne seafront overlooking the pier and within walking distance of the town.
The guest artists each had their own individual styles and an excellent variation of music was performed over the weekend.
Rosemary Wright treated us to more pieces from her huge repertoire.
Angie & Andrew Lukins played a super entertaining accordion classics set.
A popular duet set was played by Nigel Pasby & Helen Newton. Nigel also conducted his Kennet Accordion Orchestra and treated us to some pop classics.
An entertaining Roman Voloshchuk played popular accordion pieces.
Julie Best performed accordion solo classics and with Jean Corrighan three varied repertoires of duets.
Johnny-Lee Leslie left everyone mesmerised with his brilliant virtuoso performance on his button keyed accordion.
Colette played a set of pieces with Gennaro and of course no festival is complete without the amazing Harry Hussey and his jazz arrangements.
Edward Young did a superb job of the sound and lighting for all the concerts.
The trade stands were busy over the weekend, Gennaro held a Roland Accordion Masterclass and daytime orchestras lead by Jean Hangar, Angie Lukins and Nigel Pasby kept everyone occupied.
Not forgetting the comfortable bar area…….
The music didn’t stop, people played all day and in the evenings Harry, Gennaro and Roman kept the party going with people joining in.
Midnight came and went, the bar closed , bottles appeared from bedrooms and the music continued. Rumour has it certain guests were still there when the restaurant opened for breakfast.
The weather was mainly sunny and dry enabling us to take advantage of walks along the pier and seafront to clear away the over indulgence of a great weekend.
The 410 mile journey home was filled with traffic problems but thankfully we made it home safely. If only we could charter a boat to sail there!
Next years date is booked but in the meantime we have the Midlands festival in November to look forward to.
