Our March Meeting was a meeting of two halves, the first half was players on the stage, then we moved on to a free for all (practice night) format. We started with Michael playing Thistle Of Scotland, Come Along Come Along, Wer No Awa To Bide Awa, The Massacre Of Glencoe, Lord Lovat’s Lament and Flett From Flotta. The next player on stage was Sara Daly who
played A Waltz for Father, Emma & Jamie’s Wedding and The Broken Pledge. Colin Ensor was next to play, he gave us We Just Couldn’t Say Goodnight, Dream, O Sole Mio, Sorrento, Back Home Again, Violettta, You’ll Never Know, May You Always, Sunshine Of Your Smile, Someday and The Way Old Friends Do. Bernard Bamber was up next playing I Love You Because, Paper Roses, The Only Good Thing, He’ll Have To Go, You Are My Sunshine, Grandfathers Clock, Lassie From Lancashire, Lambeth Walk,
Bobby Shaftoe, 40 Shades Of Green and If You Ever Go. Our final player on stage was Rebecca who played played Home on The Range and My Wild Irish Rose.
The floor was then open for anyone to play anything in any part of the room, chat, drink coffee, repair accordions, swap tips, help each other with music etc.
The night ended at the usual 11pm when they came to lock the place up and we all went home happy to be able to meet up again and listen (and play) live music.

This Tuesday we will be meeting on TUESDAY 19th of April. Doors open at 8pm with a hybrid meeting as detailed above. We will start with any players on the stage who want to play or practice playing to an audience, then we will move on to having the rest of the evening as a Practice Night. This way we can cater
for most people’s preferences in one night, if you prefer to play on stage please arrive sooner rather than later and we will get all stage performances done first.
Because we don’t have a bar at the club any more, please feel free to bring your own Alcoholic Drink or Soft Drink. As usual there will be Tea and Coffee on sale at 20p a Cup.
Please bring yourselves and your accordion if you have one.
See you at 8pm on Tuesday 19th.
David.

Accordion Weekend at Halsway Manor
|
Two Weekend Accordion courses are being run on the 1st – 3rd July at Halways Manor.
This Beginners Weekend Course is being run by Jane Ward. The course will cover simple technique to ensure the best start to playing the accordion. The weekend will be taught by ear and with music. By the end of the weekend you should be able to play some simple tunes with both hands together, and have an idea of where to progress next.
There will be plenty of time for informal practice and time for individual assistance. There will be informal evening sessions and a Saturday night tutors’ concert.

Radio Lancashire Sunday Evening
|
Radio Lancashire broadcast a show on Sunday evenings from 6pm – 10pm called Unforgettable, its well worth listening to. The show features four hours of unforgettable songs, instrumentals and music you will probably really enjoy. We listen to it on most Sunday evenings and it brings back lots of memories of tunes from
yesteryear. If you miss listening to it (or you are not close enough to listen to it on FM) you can catch up by listening online, simply visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p001d7pd to listen live or catch up on the last four weeks episodes.
If you are listening live then as the program broadcasts you can also check the above page while lists the tracks that have been played (useful if you missed the title of something you like).
