Our July Meeting was a meeting of two halves, the first half was players on the stage, then we
moved on to a free for all (practice night) format. We started the night with Michael playing Let Have A Ceildh, Welcome To Skye, Loch Rannoch, Sweet Maid of Mull and Boys Of Blue Hill. Our next player Graham Crowe was visiting us from Weymouth with his Roland accordion. Graham played Ain’t Misbehavin, The Harry Lime Theme, Under Paris Skies, Walking In The Air, Skye Boat Song, Floral Dance, Four Leaf Clover, Chinatown, Doggy In The Window and Blue Bell Polka. Bernard Bamber then took to the stage and played You Are My Sunshine, Blackpool Belle, He'll Have To Go, When The Saints, Old Smoky, Green Grass Of Home, Maggie, Que Sera Sera and Hello Dolly. Ann Parker was up next playing Blue Bell Polka and Yodelling Polka. Colin Ensor was up next playing I Won’t Tell A
Soul, Why Did You Make Me Care, O Sole Mio, Return to Sorrento, The Sands Of Kuwait, Pigalle, More Than You Know, Sweetheart Of All My Dreams, Charmaine and The Way Old Friends Do. Our next player was Sara Daly playing Twilight Time, I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire, Wild Mountain Thyme, Enviken’s Waltz and Midnight Waltz.
The floor was then open for anyone to play anything in any part of the room, chat, drink coffee, repair accordions, swap tips, help each other with music etc.
The night ended at the usual 11pm when they came to lock the place up and we all went home happy to be able to meet up
again and listen (and play) live music.

We will be
meeting this Tuesday 16th of August. Doors open at 8pm with a hybrid meeting as usual. We will start with any players on the stage who want to play or practice playing to an audience, then we will move on to having the rest of the evening as a Practice Night. This way we can cater for most people’s preferences in one night, if you prefer to play on stage please arrive sooner rather than later and we will get all stage performances done first. As usual there
will be Tea and Coffee on sale at 20p a Cup. Please bring yourselves and your accordion if you have one. See you at 8pm on Tuesday 16th. David.

Looking for CD by Les Hurst
|
I found
a homemade CD (not made by me) which had fallen down the back of my fireplace. It featured three high quality recordings by Les Hurst. I have no idea where the CD came from, how long it had been there, whether I ever met Les and he gave it to me, or whether I had even played it before. I am now looking to see if Les has produced more recordings and has a CD for sale. Does anyone know Les, know if he has a CD for sale, or has any more information for me I would be interested to hear from you. I know Les used to attend Carlisle Accordion Club in the past but has not been there for a while.

Talking Pictures TV - Footage Dectectives
|
Talking
Pictures TV run a TV Series called “The Footage Dectectives” presented by Mike Reed and Noel Cronin. The show looks at archive footage from tv and footage converted from old film reels, as well as some interesting home movies. There are sections of the show that they ask the audience to write in to help identify the location or the subjects. Its quite an interesting programme. You can watch the programme on a Sunday evening at 5pm on Talking Pictures TV (Sky 328, Freeview 82, Freesat 306, Virgin
455) You can also see all episodes to date with their catch up service on https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/
