Our December Meeting was our Christmas Jacobs Join night. This is where we all brought some food, snacks or something to contribute to a Christmas get together meal. While the food was being laid out we started with our first player of the night Colin Ensor who played Please Don’t Talk, Try A Little Tenderness, I’ll String Along With You, More Than You
Know, Sailing By (This is the tune played before the shipping forecast on Radio 4), Dark Island, Sweetheart Of All My Dreams and Charmaine. The food was ready now and we started to tuck in while our next player Bernard Belshaw on Keyboard played Night and Day, That’s Why The Lady Is A Tramp, Ave Maria and Autumn Leaves. The stage was open for our next player Harvey on accordion played Mexican Hat Dance, Snow Waltz, Sloop John B, Delilah, Silent Night
and Oh Lonesome Me. Bernard Bamber was up next playing Jingle Bells, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, I saw Mummy Kissing Santa Clause, Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, The First Noel, Walking In A Winter Wonderland, White Christmas and In The Mood. Michael Kristiansen then took his turn on stage playing Welcome Christmas Morning, Dr J G Hunter Of Aultbea, The Meeting Of The Waters and Wee Tod. Andrew Baker who used to live nearby was visiting from his new home in Anglesey. Andrew had brought his banjo on which he played Home On The Range, South Of The Border, Silent Night and When I Saw Her Standing There. Ann Parker was up next on the accordion playing Woodland Fantasia, Beer Barrel Polka, Snow Waltz and Loveliest Night Of The Year. Bernard Belshaw then returned to the stage and played
his keyboard which he had set up earlier, he was also joined by Harvey on Melodica, Trumpet and Banjolele and Andrew Baker on Banjo. This trio played Ain’t She Sweet, Putting On The Style, Has Anybody Seen My Girl, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, White Christmas, Have yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Sunshine Of Your Smile
The night ended at the usual 11pm when they came to lock the place up and we all
went home happy to be able to meet up again and listen (and play) live music. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Jacobs Join and to those who played and made the night so enjoyable. A Black Marks and Spencer’s bag was left at the meeting, if this was yours, we will have it at the next meeting.

We will
be meeting this Tuesday 17th of January. Doors open at 8pm with a hybrid meeting as usual. We will start with any players on the stage who want to play or practice playing to an audience, then we will move on to having the rest of the evening as a
Practice Night. This way we can cater for most people’s preferences in one night, if you prefer to play on stage please arrive sooner rather than later and we will get all stage performances done first. As usual there will be Tea and Coffee on sale at 20p a Cup. See you at 8pm on Tuesday 17th. David.

This is a video showing around an accordion museum that has 1500 accordions. The link was shared by Michael at our last meeting. I recommend you mute the sound until 7 minutes 53 seconds, then turn it up until 8 minutes 33. You can turn it back up again at 13.23 for some familiar
accordion music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgh2qla7QlA
