Last Month
|
At our last meeting we started the night with lots of chat going on before any players took to the stage. When the time came to start playing our first player Ann Parker started the night with Lucky Lucky Me, My Florence, Snow Waltz, Loveliest Night of the Year and The Frog Chorus. Ann was followed by Sara Daley who gave us Midnight Waltz, Anybody Seen My Girl, Sara’s Waltz, El Chocolo, Emma
& Jamies Wedding and Genevieve’s Waltz. Our next player was Colin Ensor, Colin started with Try A Little Tenderness and I’ll String Along With You, he continued with Once in a While, Miss The Mississippi, Dancing with Tears, The Greatest Mistake Of My Life, Ashokan Farewell and The Way Old Friends Do. After the stage performances the format changed to everyone doing their own thing around
the room. A small group playing in one corner, others playing solo, swapping tips, helping each other with music or just chatting and drinking tea and coffee for the rest of the night.
The night ended at the usual 11pm when they came to lock the place up. David Batty

Our Next Meeting - It's Christmas!
|
We will be holding our Christmas meeting
this Tuesday 19th December. As is normal for our December Christmas meeting we will be having a ‘Jacobs Join’, this is where we all try and bring some sandwiches, pork pies, cake, sausage rolls or some other form of food to put in to a communal feast. This will also be a night where we ask people to not only play the accordion but also to show any of their other talents if they do
something besides play the accordion. Maybe you play the trumpet, banjo, sing, play the keyboard, recite amusing ditties or have some other talent you would like to share with us, if so we look forward to your performance. We also look for anyone teaming up with another player or two on the December night if you want to have a go at playing together. If you are a nervous player, or have not played in front of anyone before then this is a good night to make your debut. After the food
has been laid out and others are choosing what to eat, you could take your turn on the stage and get some playing in while others are concentrating on their food. As usual there will be Tea and Coffee on the go. See you at 8pm this Tuesday 19th December. Please try and make it if you
can, it will be nice to see a good turnout on our final day of 2023. David.

Bill Bailey's Australian Adventures
|
Bill Bailey has a series of programs
where he visits Australia, travels around meeting people and seeing sights. On the first episode he buys a second Hand Accordion in a shop. The accordion was out of tune but I was surprised that he still bought it even though he is a brilliant musician so knew it was that way. He only used it once that we saw, this was to play ‘music’ in a forest, then we never saw it again. You can watch on Channel 4’s Catch up service https://www.channel4.com/programmes/bill-baileys-australian-adventure/on-demand/75930-001

Christmas
|
Just a reminder that now is a good time
to dust off your Christmas tunes and start practicing, you never know when you might be asked to play for family, friends, or you could play them at our December concert.
