Last Month

At our last meeting we started at 8pm as usual. Our first player of the night was Gordon Priestley playing Now Is The Hour, When The Saints, Dark Island, Edelweiss, Moon River, The March of the Hebrew Slaves, La Noye, Sharpshooters March and Under Paris Skies. Ann Parker was up next playing My Treasure, Woodland Fantasia and her own composition called Roundabout. Colin Ensor
then took to the stage and gave us Please Don’t Talk, Dream, The Town I Loved, Back Home Again, O Sole Mio, Return To Sorrento, Kate Martins Waltz, Sweetheart Of All My Dreams, Who’s Taking You Home Tonight, Charmaine and The Way Old Friends Do. Sara Daly was our next player, she gave us renditions of Genevieve’s Waltz, Kevs Trip To Brittany, Pretty Baby, We’ll Meet Again and The Irish Rover.
After the stage performances were over we then moved on to the informal part of the night, with people playing in various locations and groups around the room, chatting, drinking tea and coffee, swapping stories and tips, and generally having a good time.
The night ended at the usual 11pm.

Jenny's Accordionists Concert Derbyshire
|
This is a concert by Jenny's
Accordionists with proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support. It is in Derbyshire which is a distance from Leyland but it is in travelling distance for us. Jenny’s Accordionists is an accordion band from East Anglia. There is cabaret-style seating for 68 people around eleven candlelit tables, 8 with 6 seats, 3 with 8 seats and 2 with 4 seats, as shown on the seating plan on the link below. Seats are £12.50 each
plus a booking fee of 98p per seat. You need to take your own drinks and snacks as there is no bar or food service. You are welcome to use their glasses and plates free of charge. Jenny’s Accordionists are an 8 strong group consisting of 7 accordion players and a percussionist. They play most of their concerts in
East Anglia but have an annual “away” gig and this year they are performing at Tansley. They are an accomplished band that was first formed over 50 years ago and in 2016 they took part in the World Music Festival in Innsbruck where they were awarded first place in the Advanced Ensemble Category. They play a lively blend of music ranging from Frank Sinatra to Pachelbel’s Canon, White Christmas to The Carpenters – a wide repertoire including swing, classical, showtune, popular and easy listening
music – all selected to show off the versatility and tone of their instruments. The next ONLINE meeting will be 1st May starting at 8pm, we have an online catch up with local members and others from far and wide. This is held on Zoom. The night starts at 8pm and will be a chance to chat about accordions, find out what others have been up to, or even play a tune for us.
