St Audries Bay Accordion Week
|
We have just returned from St Audries Bay
Accordion week in Somerset. The festival was a week of accordion workshops, concerts, busking sessions, old friends meeting up after a year, one on one tuition, and a Ceilidh on one of the evenings. This is a great festival in a lovely laid back camp by the sea. There were five adults and two kids from Leyland Accordion club in attendance. Being a campsite rather than a hotel we were staying in a campervan, a caravan and two in a static caravan. The festival was well attended,
everyone seemed to have a great time and we met many new accordion friends. I will post details of next years event in the newsletter nearer the time but to put it in your diary it will be held from the 4th to the 11th of July 2025.

Play Score II
|
A very useful application is Play Score 2
which you can download on your mobile phone (it has to have a good camera on the phone to work). Once you run it you can take a photo of any piece of sheet music… and hear it played instantly. You can slow it down or speed it up, and if you pay for the application rather than use the free version you can export it to music editing packages or create a mp3 version to play in your favourite music player. This app is excellent for looking through music, taking a quick photo, and then
deciding whether you like the tune or not. If you don’t read music then this can help you learn. Look on your mobile phone store to download it and either use the free version, or alternatively pay for the pro version.
