As usual it had been a great Christmas event, with great company, great entertainment and great food. Thanks to all those who brought food for our Jacobs Join, those who
played on the night, and those who came to the club throughout 2018. Roll on 2019 and the nights and guest artists we have planned for this coming year.

This will be held on Thursday 14 March 2019 at 7:30pm in Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The concert includes some accordion content. Louis Gottschalk Symphony No.1, A Night in the Tropics
Claudia Montero Vientos del Sur (Winds of the South): Concerto for Piano Accordion and Orchestra (world premiere). Rimsky-Korsakov Shéhérazade. Vasily Petrenko is the conductor with Ksenija Sidorova on accordion.
Here is the writeup from them… Hold tight: it’s not every concert that starts with a samba and ends with a shipwreck! But when Louis Gottschalk wrote his First Symphony in 1857, he gave its finale an unmistakably Latin shimmy and the first ever orchestral samba. Far away in Russia, meanwhile, Rimsky-Korsakov dreamt of the Arabian Nights – and
his sumptuous musical fairytale Shéhérazade never gets any less thrilling. In between – well, let’s just say that if you heard the phenomenal Ksenija Sidorova at our 2016 Christmas concerts, the opportunity to hear her in the dance rhythms of this brand new concerto by Argentinean composer Claudia Montero will be pretty much unmissable.
Tickets range from £15 to £45 and can be bought from https://www.liverpoolphil.com/whats-on/a-night-in-the-tropics

Vishten - Canadian Acadian Trio
|
On 2nd February 2019 at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic will be multi award-winning Acadian trio Vishtèn, they will celebrate 15 years together with their sixth album "Horizons" and most extensive UK tour to date.
"a jaw-dropping set from an outstanding band" Folk Radio
Flag-bearers for their unique musical traditions throughout the world, the powerhouse trio are currently nominated for six Music PEI (Prince Edward Island) Awards - including Album of the Year and Francophone Artist of the Year.
Having been delighting UK audiences for ten years, since their debut at the Shetland Folk Festival in 2009, they will return to the UK in early 2019 for an extensive tour of 17 dates across January and February, from Inverness to Southampton, including a return to Glasgow's world-renown Celtic Connections festival on January
31.
Their summer 2018 UK tour included standout sets at the Cambridge Folk Festival, WOMAD UK, Wickham Festival, and the Hebridean Celtic Festival, as well as live concert sets broadcast on both BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland.
The trio's most progressive release to date, Horizons sees Vishtèn continuing to push the Acadian music envelope, pulling from all three members' rich musical upbringing and heritage whilst unashamedly drawing from contemporary influences and their continual worldwide travels. The Cajun tradition – spread by Acadians throughout North America –
mixes with Celtic and world strands, altogether redefining the possibilities of French-Canadian folk.
Ticket prices are £14 or £17 and can be bought from https://www.liverpoolphil.com/whats-on/vishten
