We met at the club for the first time in 19 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The doors opened at 8pm (we are not allowed in earlier now) and the crowds started arriving (well 18 of us) arrived and everyone looked the same (Apart from Andrew who was only just learning to walk at our last meeting) and everyone looked well, which was a relief.
After lots of catching up with each other and comments on the bright newly painted room we got our tea and coffee and proceeded to unpack accordions and start playing around the room.
The night was a social get together after such a long break, which ended up with a large group of people sitting together playing almost 3 hours of tunes together which was nice to see.
Steve Roxton who had come over from Middlesbrough for the night was playing in the corridor doing requests for an audience who were not part of the buskers group. Because the club doesn’t have a bar now and is not a members club we were the only ones in the building, which is why we used the corridor without others walking
through.
The night went on with playing, chatting, drinking coffee going on non stop. It was nice to see folk and get back to some normality.
I spoke to a few people about how to proceed with the club and decided we should have a mixed night this coming TUESDAY (just a reminder that our night has changed to the third Tuesday of the month, not Wednesday (this change was out of our hands ☹ )). See story below this one for details of our next
meeting.
