This Wednesday is one of our local players concerts. Hopefully you can support your club and attend. If you are a player, please ensure you have your accordion and your music(if needed), so you can play your latest pieces for us. If you don’t play then you have an important job too,
players need an audience, so I hope you can attend and support them. The night starts at 8pm but doors are always open for 7.30pm for a chat before the concert starts. I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

It will soon be coming up to our Christmas Do in December. For those of you who have not been to our Christmas do before we have a Jacob Join where we all
bring some food whether that be some Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls, things on sticks or Cakes and Trifles etc. We end up with a variety of food to share amongst everyone. The evening entertainment also changes on that night, we open the stage up to all instruments and they don’t need to be accompanied by an Accordion. You could also perform a monolog or what ever your other talent may be. Come and show us any other talents you may have, or team up with someone you don’t normally play with, to form a
new duet in December. Players normally let their hair down, and try something new because once the food is ready, everyone is eating and talking, so it’s a good time to play on the stage if you are a nervous player.

Its not long until December now, which means it’s a good time to brush up
on some Christmas tunes. December will be here before you know it, and you may be asked to provide a few tunes somewhere, its best to be prepared with a few you are comfortable with.

Looking for Small 48 Bass Accordion
|
We have been contact by one of our friends to see if there is a small 48 bass accordion that could be borrowed for a few weeks for a 9 year old girl to try out to see if the accordion is something she would like to learn to play. She is a fan of Accordionist Nathan Carter and has expressed an interest in trying the accordion.
She will be coming to a practice night sometime in the new year. If anyone has a 48 bass accordion they would be happy to lend out for a while please let us know. I know the family quite well and can guarantee that the accordion will be looked after.

St Georges Hall 9th December 2018 at 3pm
|
At St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Sunday 9 December Goran Stevanovic will be joining St George’s Hall own orchestra
in a performance of the stirring Concerto for Accordion by the Ukrainian composer Igor Shamo.
The promotional literature for this event is reproduced below…
This will be a ravishing half hour with glorious melodies and dazzling brilliance from the soloist – prepare to be amazed at this astonishing level of technical and musical ability.
This concert is the latest in the Orchestra dell’Arte’s ground-breaking series of UNESCO exchange concerts.
Before the concerto will be the stirring overture The Thieving Magpie, composer Rossini at his very best – just try not to tap your feet, you won’t succeed!
After the interval the orchestra will play the rollicking London Symphony by Vaughan Williams, perhaps the jolliest depiction of that great city in music. Listen out especially for the examples of Cockney slang in the music – yes, Vaughan Williams really has written a musical version of Cor Blimey into this immensely tuneful work.
Tickets: £12.50 from 07867528034, ticketquarter.co.uk or at the door. Information: dellarte.co.uk

|
Eastbourne Accordion Festivals have increased their team with Gennaro Fiondella and Colette McKeown to joining them to help with the organisation of the festival. We have however recently been offered help and it is with great pleasure we can announce Gennaro Fiondella and Colette McKeown are about to join our team. This will
enable our Accordion Weekend Holidays to continue on into the foreseeable future”.

We will have a new person coming to the club in future. Rebecca had a baby boy last week, this will be the youngest person at the club, and hopefully he will like what he hears.
Both mother and baby are doing well and Rebecca is eager to resume her accordion playing and doing other things that have been difficult for her recently.

We are starting to collect Membership fees for 2019, this is to remain at the same price it has always been which is £5 per year. I keep prices down to make the club affordable while still helping towards our increasing expenses. The room hire almost doubled this year but we are doing ok. You can pay your membership on
the door in December or January. The proceeds go towards guest artists, an Internet service to send out the newsletters, the running of the website and any costs associated with running of the club, such as ads in local shops etc. If you are paying by cheque please make your cheque payable to “David Batty”.
