Our January Concert started with Arthur playing Ave Maria, Danny Boy, Midnight In Moscow, Hector The Hero, Fields Of Athenry and Edelweiss. Our next player to take to the stage was Michael who gave us great renditions of Scottish tunes including A Gaelic Medley, South Uist Whaling Song, Leaving Lismore, Loch Leven, Waters
Of Kylesku, Uist Leaving Lewis, Oban Pipes and Drums, Lord Lovat’s Lament, Loch Ruan and Flett Flotta. Harvey was up next, he played Swannee River, Daisy, Sarah’s Waltz, Amandas Waltz and Flower Of Scotland, to finish he played Bridges Of Paris. David Rigby then took to the stage and played My Wild Irish Rose, Que Sera Sera, Highland Cathedral, Loveliest Night Of The Year, Now Is The Hour, Beautiful Dreamer, Good Old Summertime and Irish Eyes. Up next was John Robinson, John started with
Wimoweh, then continued with Can’t Buy Me Love, Urban Space Man, The Rare Auld Mountain Dew and Floral Dance. Colin then took a break from writing tunes down for the newsletter while he entertained us with There I’ve Said It Again, La Vie En Rose, Under Paris Skies, Leaving Lerwick Harbour, Back Home Again, She, and finishing with Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone. Ann Parker was our next player, Ann played three tunes, Yodelling Polka, Woodland Fantasia and Beautiful Days. Bernard
Belshaw followed Ann, he started with Ain’t She Sweet and Ave Maria, then continued his spot with Spanish Gypsy Dance, Lady Of Spain, If You Love Me, This Is My Song and finally the rousing Blaze Away. Bernard Bamber had the difficult job of following the other Bernard, but being the professional he did an admiral job playing Bluebell Polka, Annie Laurie, Scotland The Brave, Thistle Of Scotland, Amazing Grace, Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed Down, Wild Rover and Have I Told You Lately.
It was now nearing the end of the night and time for the final players to entertain us. First Rebecca and I played Plaisir D’Amour before I left the stage for Rebecca to continue on her own playing Home On The Range, My Wild Irish Rose, Waltz De Amelie and Moon River. I then returned to the stage and gave renditions of Triste Sourire and Now Is The Hour before vacating it for Graham Driver to finish the Night playing Cod’s Grove, Prescott Clock, Strike The Bell, Weasels Revenge and Cuckoo’s
Nest.

This is to be held from the 5th to the 7th of April 2019, at Benslow Music, Benslow Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG4 9RB.
The Tutor is Paul Hutchinson, Paul’s style of teaching is relaxed and entertaining, but underlying this is his belief that the accordion should be taken more seriously as a beautiful and versatile instrument. His playing is unique in that he uses a lot of sustained left hand notes, block chords, and drones or pedal notes and he also is master
of harmony, frequently adding extra lines in the right hand. His playing is inspired by the sound of the church organ and he tries to avoid the old-fashioned limited use of the instrument (notechords rhythmic “boom-chit” sound) at all costs. He is an experienced teacher who loves teaching and enjoys developing the potential of a group or individual to deepen and improve their musicianship.
Resident: £280 Non-Resident: £205 Code: 19/230
