Our July Concert was a local players concert which started with Harvey and John playing Grandfathers Clock, Ain’t She Sweet, I Feel Fine, Putting On The Style and Anybody Seen My Girl. Bernard Belshaw was our next player, he played Wooden Heart, Moonlight Serenade, La Mer, This Is My Song, La Vie En Rose, Moulin Rouge, Spanish Gypsy
Dance, Isle Of Capri, Ecstasy, Jealousy, Blaze Away and Stranger In Paradise. Colin then took to the stage, he was playing Joe Gallaghers Accordion which he had been servicing and re-tuning. Colin first played Down Forget Me Not Lane, then continued with Maigret, O Sole Mio, She, Conquest Of Paradise, The Greatest Mistake Of My Life, Sharmaine, and Sweetheart Of All My Dreams. After the break we started the second session with Rosemary Askew-Clough playing Hatikvah, Canadian Gaidheal, Field Of
Athenry, Maggie, Stranger In Paradise, Polovtslan Dance, Autumn Leaves and Aux Oiseaux De Paris. John Robinson was our next player, he gave us Wimoweh, Manchester Rambler, Gypsy, Floral Dance, Whistling and This Old House. Graham Crow was in the area (he lives on the south coast) so as usual when he is in the area he pays us a welcome visit. He started with Ship Ahoy and I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside. He then went on to play We Come Along, Who’s Your Lady Friend, Lovely Bunch Of
Coconuts, Bill Bailey, You Beautiful Doll, Lambeth Walk, Follow The Band, Pack Up Your Troubles, Tipperary, Manchester Rambler and Genevieve Waltz. Bernard Bamber was on next, playing Your Cheating Heart, I Love You Because, Moonlight and Roses, You Are My Sunshine, When The Saint’s Go Marching In, Daisy, Cockles and Mussels and Happy Wanderer. I wanted to play some I am not regularly know for so I started with Bless This House and Barcarole. Then I continued with Snow Waltz, I Belong To Glasgow
(The verse people tend not to know or play, and the chorus), Cuckoo Waltz, Abide With Me and Can’t Help Falling In Love. Rebecca was up next playing My Wild Irish Rose, Moon River and Home On The Range. Harvey then took his place on the stage and played Daisy, Happy Wanderer, Swannee River, Bridges Of Paris, Mexican Hat Dance, Spanish Eyes, Spanish Harlem, Snow Waltz, Return To Me, Amazing Grace and Flower Of Scotland. It had been a great night of entertainment thanks to some very talented
players and as usual there was a great laid back fun atmosphere.
