In September we started our night with Dave Wilson making his debut at the club, playing Amazing Grace. This was a great debut from Dave who is just learning the accordion. Dave normally attends our practice nights and concerts, but this was his first time he had made an appearance on stage. This had been a great
debut by Dave and we look forward to hearing him again on stage in future. After Dave, we continued with Harvey playing Swanee River, Daisy, Maggie, I Love You Because, Mexican Hat Dance and, to finish, he played When The Saints Go Marching In. Our next player was Arthur Frankland, Arthur played Midnight In Moscow, Edelweiss, Lock Lomond, Fields Of Athenry, Hector The Hero and Danny Boy. Alan Prescott also made his debut at the club, playing When I’m 64, Give My Regards TO Broadway, I Belong To
Glasgow, Northern Lights Of Aberdeen, Island In The Sun, Isle Of Capri, Yellow Bird, Spanish Eyes and A Gordon For Me. It was now time for the break, during the break we had the usual chat, drinking coffee, swapping tips and accordions being inspected. After the break we started with Bernard Bamber playing Paper Roses, He’ll Have To Go, Lassie From Lancashire, Please Release Me, Happy Wanderer, Que Sera Sera, You Are My Sunshine, Goodnight Irene, Isle Of Inisfree, Galway Bay, Wild Rover,
Hellow Dolly, I Have Dream, Scotland The Brave and In The Mood. Colin Ensor was our next player, he started his spot playing Corinna Corinna, then continued with Ashokan Farewell, Sailing By, Why Did You Make Me Care, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Sweetheart Of All My Dreams, You’ll Never Know, May You Always, Sunshine Of Your Smile, Someday and, to finish, Who’s Talking You Home Tonight. Ann Parker was up next, playing Frog Chorus, Beautiful Days, Snow Waltz, Beer Barrel Polka and Yodelling
Polka. Our next player was Rebecca, playing My Wild Irish Rose, Moon River, Home and On The Range and Bianca Cappana. I then joined Rebecca on stage playing Plaisir D’Amour. Rebecca left the stage then and left me to play Cruising Down The River, I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles, Old Bull And Bush, Lassie From Lancashire, My Girls A Yorkshire Girl, A Gordon For Me, I Belong To Glasgow, Keep Right On, Star Spangled Banner, America The Beautiful, Humoresque, What A Friend We Have, Can’t Help Falling In
Love, Black Mask Waltz, My Grandfathers Clock, Sailors Hornpipe, Triste Sourire and, seeing as it was the end of the night, to finish I played Now Is The Hour.

Steve Roxton on the 30th October Practice Night
|
On the 30th of October Steve Roxton will be playing for us at the club. This is normally a practice night all night, but because we have Steve in the area, he has offered to play for us in the first hour, and then stay for the rest of the night to give help and advice to anyone wanting to chat to him. So for the first
45 or 50 minutes of the night we will have Steve Roxton playing for us on stage, this will have finished by 9pm, and will have reverted to a normal practice night. For the rest of the night we carry on as normal, but Steve will still be at the club, and will be available to give any help or advice to players, to play a few duets with folk, and generally join in with the practice night. This is a great chance to come along, hear a concert spot, then get help or advice from a professional player,
or carry on with doing your own thing for the last two hours.

It’s time to start practicing your Christmas favourites and party pieces. It won’t be long until our Christmas event and you may also get asked to play some carols by family or friends at home over the Christmas period, so the best time to start learning them is way before Christmas.
