Our December Concert was our Christmas party Jacobs Join get together. Normally we have a concert where the accordion can be accompanied by any instruments you like, but December is where we are happy for solo performances of any other instruments. It’s a night where players can show us their other talents (while keeping the club
an Accordion Club for the rest of the year) Being a Jacobs Join the members brought in food which we put together in to a feast. While the food was being laid out at the back Ann Parker started the entertainment with her Ukelele. She played and sang Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, Snow Waltz, I Belong To Glasgow and Down At The Old Bull and Bush. A queue had now formed along the food tables and people were tucking in to their meal while Harvey played Swannee
River, Daisy, I Love You Because, Maggie, Return To Me, Its Hard To Be Humble and Silent Night. The format for the December night is not only ‘any instrument goes’ but I take a back seat in the organisation of the night and I ask people to just get up and take to the stage when they are ready and they see a gap. Our next player was Bernard Belshaw playing Have A Merry Christmas, White Christmas, Jingle Bells, Don’t Know Why, Heart Of Gold, Down At The Old Bull and Bush and You Made Me Love
You. The entertainment continued with John Robinson on Piano playing From A Distance, Sunny Afternoon and a whole host of tunes. Then Bernard Bamber played Paper Roses, Old Rugged Cross, Singing The Blues, My Happiness, You’re The Only Good Thing Than Happened To Me, He’ll Have To Go, Blackboard Of My Heart, In My Liverpool Home, Lassie From Lancashire and On Top Of Old Smoky. Up next was Colin Ensor playing Corinna Corinna, Ashokan Farewell, She, Crazy, Sailing By, Folsom Prison Blues,
Magnolia Wind, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain and The Way Old Friends Do. Our next performer was Gordon playing Style Musette, Now Is The Hour, When The Saints, Red Roses For A Blue Lady, 4 Leaf Clover, If You Knew Susie, Kentucky Polka, Honeymooners Waltz and Maggies Polka. To end the night I played Now Is The Hour.
Thank you to everyone who brought something for the Jacobs Join, and for those who provided us with entertainment. We hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year.
