We had a new player on stage next, Jack (who is still at school) played his own tune and did an excellent job of playing on stage for the first time, in front of an audience, well done. Our next player was Ann Parker who played Frog Chorus, Roll Out The Barrel, The Snow Waltz, Bluebell Polka and Black Mask Waltz. Bernard Bamber was up next, playing Mocking Bird Hill, My Wild Irish Rose, Goodnight Irene, Wild Rover Black Velvet Band, Galway Bay,
Goodbye Mursheen Durkin, He’ll Have To Go, In The Mood, Forever and Forever and Isle Of Innisfree. Colin Ensor then took to the stage, he started with Down Forget Me Not Lane, Little Old Wine Drinker Me, Sailing By, She, The Skye Boat Song, Back Home Again Magnolia Wind and Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain. Alan Prescott followed Colin, he played I Belong To Glasgow, The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen, Galway Bay, Irish Eyes, Cockles and Mussels, When I’m 64, Give My Regards To Broadway,

It was now getting near to the end of the night so I joined Rebecca for us to play Plasisir D’Amour. I left the stage and left Rebecca to play Moon River. Sara Daly was up next, playing All Kinds Of Everything, The Lovers Waltz and Midnight Waltz. To finish the night we were entertained by Bernard Belshaw playing Jealousy, I
Hear Music, Time After Time, Edelweiss, Isle Of Capri, When I Grow Too Old To Dream and Don’t Know Why. Thanks to all the players who entertained us. Its great to hear so many different players, styles and levels at the club, it gives us all ideas for new tunes and inspiration to play something different.

Man To Run Marathon playing the Accordion
|
North Norfolk News have reported on a 49 Year old man who is planning on running a marathon while playing the Accordion. Carmine De Grandis is currently waiting for Guinness to see it can be recorded as a World Record. Carmine has been playing the Accordion since he was a child, He is also a seasoned runner, a couple of
years ago he had the idea of bringing the two together, Carmine said it started as a bit of joke in his running club, they found it quite entertaining and enjoyed it. There will be 400 people taking part in this marathon. Carmine is on the lookout for a larger accordion as the accordion he has currently is quite heavy but also quite small, he is looking to see if he can get a bigger one which would let him play a larger range of tunes. He said he didn’t want to get
bored when going along, it’s not going to be a speed record.
The marathon takes place on the 17th May starting at Sea Palling along the Norfolk coast to Sheringham.

HMS Erebus Accordion Artefact
|
There have been a number of Artefacts pulled up from the Wreck of HMS Erebus. In 1846 the Erebus was sailing from England to the Pacific through the Artic, the ship got stuck in Artic Sea Ice and was never heard from again. The artefacts were retrieved by a team of divers from Parks Canada’s Underwater archaeology team who made 93
dives over a 3 week period in August and September of 2019, they spent 110 hours underwater exploring the wreck and collecting new clues about what life on the ship was like. Among the artefacts recovered were a hairbrush with human hair in the bristles, silver spoon and sugar tongs, a bottle used for mustard and an Accordion.
